EP03 Tao Wuji unexpectedly gained Zhao Hui’s favor

Cheng Jiayuan, Tao Wuji, and Hu Yue became friends because they all entered the bank in the same year. Regarding the recent job placement, Cheng Jiayuan explained that he was sent to the corporate department because of connections at home, but he personally had no intention of going there. Tao Wuji asked Cheng Jiayuan about the outcome of Dai Xing’s case. Cheng Jiayuan revealed that the Discipline Inspection Commission of the head office had thoroughly investigated but had not found any valuable information. At most, Dai Xing was found to have engaged in some irregular operations, but they didn’t cause any losses to the bank. The accident was ultimately attributed to fatigue driving.

However, regardless of the outcome, Tao Wuji firmly believed that Dai Xing was a good person, and he was also curious about Zhao Hui. Cheng Jiayuan mentioned that Zhao Hui’s abilities were well-known in the domestic banking industry. He successfully introduced dozens of major projects to Shenmao Bank and was appointed as the deputy branch manager at the age of 35 without any background.

Unable to obtain information about Xie Zhiyuan from the president’s secretary, Amy, Shen Jing focused her attention on Tian Xiaohui and arranged for her to work at Yuanzhou Trust, becoming her informant within the company to monitor Xie Zhiyuan’s every move. Under Shen Jing’s arrangement, Tian Xiaohui reported to Yuanzhou Trust, coincidentally meeting President Xie Zhiyuan at a meeting.

Amy showed Tian Xiaohui around the company, arranged her new job position, and briefed her on her duties. That day, Tian Xiaohui went to the branch to handle the salary card business, specifically choosing Tao Wuji’s window. Due to the limitations of public places, the two couldn’t openly display affection, so they exchanged love messages on a piece of paper. This scene was witnessed by Hu Yue, who felt jealous.

After Dai Xing’s accident, Gu Shen, the deputy head of the head office of Shenmao Bank, was temporarily brought in to guide the work and suggested that Zhao Hui seize the opportunity to take over Dai Xing’s position. Zhao Hui was very grateful for Gu Shen’s support and promised not to let him down. However, other branch managers were skeptical about Zhao Hui’s proposed Sunshine Plan, and Zhao Hui felt outnumbered. Remembering Gu Shen’s advice, he decided to form his own management team and boldly recruit new talent.

Later, Zhao Hui, holding a stack of documents, went to the front desk under the pretext of checking loan companies’ financial reports, actually assessing which talents were worth retaining. Most people either couldn’t spot any issues after checking or didn’t dare to raise questions even if they did. Only Tao Wuji dared to point out publicly that one company had increased its sales revenue by issuing false value-added tax invoices, sensitively detecting hidden liability problems and suggesting further investigation.

Indeed, Tao Wuji’s abilities caught Zhao Hui’s attention. He called him into the office alone, briefly inquired about the situation, and directly explained the task he intended to delegate to him. Zhao Hui asked Tao Wuji to investigate the financial statements of five other companies involved in the Sunshine Plan, including their repayment capabilities, asset liabilities, and operational management, and requested him to uncover any fraudulent activities without disrupting work or exposing the investigation.

Tao Wuji was delighted to receive Zhao Hui’s trust but curious about why he chose him. Zhao Hui admitted that the relationships between departments were complex, so he needed someone without a background or connections to ensure a fair investigation. Understanding Zhao Hui’s intentions, Tao Wuji thought of presenting a recommendation letter but hesitated and instead handed over his business card.

Tian Xiaohui thanked Shen Jing for introducing her to the job and specifically bought a brand-name watch as a gift. However, Shen Jing straightforwardly asked her to pay attention to Xie Zhiyuan’s dealings with Jiashang Industries and help identify the identity of the woman with red hair, instructing her to report truthfully on both company employees and clients.

Initially, Tian Xiaohui didn’t want to get involved in such matters, but Shen Jing promised that as long as she kept track of Xie Zhiyuan’s movements, she could quickly replace the position of the secretary to the board of directors. Caught between work and ethics, Tian Xiaohui felt conflicted, and the landlord’s bizarre actions also made her feel suffocated, hoping to own her own house in Shanghai in the future. After careful consideration, Tian Xiaohui finally agreed to Shen Jing’s conditions and began to pay attention to female employees or clients around her while working diligently.

Passing by the office, Zhao Hui noticed that Tao Wuji was still working overtime to verify the data. After he found out about the issues with companies under Gaussburg Group, he followed Zhao Hui’s suggestion and disguised himself as a worker to enter the factory and take photos. During the process, Tao Wuji was discovered, and in a panic, he jumped into the river to save the evidence. Tao’s father came to Shanghai to visit Tao Wuji, bringing bags of local specialties. After bringing his father into the rental house, Tao’s father complained about the small size of the place.

A teacher called Zhao Hui and informed him that Zhao Rui was in a bad mood and left class early. Zhao Hui knew that whenever Zhao Rui was upset, she would go to her friend Wu Xianlong’s house. Sure enough, he found his daughter playing games with Wu Xianlong’s son. Initially, they were chatting and laughing, but when they saw Zhao Hui, Zhao Rui immediately became cold.
